Simply Hired Following up After an Interview
After an interview, your follow up can make or break your chances of getting the job. This extra step doesn’t take much time, but it can be a great way to stand out from other applicants. Not only this, but some hiring managers won’t hire a candidate that didn’t write them a thank you note. A recent survey by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) found that 5% of hiring managers believe failing to write a thank you note after an interview is a major problem or deal breaker while...

Diggings Larry Kudlow Is Wrong – Businesses Do Want To Hire
With the disappointing jobs report released earlier today, there is no doubt that my prediction for a far more positive report than most expected was off the mark. According to the Department of Labor numbers, job growth in July was positive but anemic, and far below consensus estimates. Following the weak BLS report, politicians, economists, forecasters, and the media are and will continue to passionately debate about the current state of the nation’s economy, the health of the U.S. job...

Job Circle Do LinkedIn Recommendations Really Mean Anything?
By Todd Bavol, The Job Search Ninja. CEO, Integrity Career Transitions Of all the primarily business focused networking sites, LinkedIn is, of course, the most widely favored. Diggings Based On LinkUp’s Job Search Engine Data, Friday’s Jobs Report Will Be Far Stronger Than Consensus Estimates
The consensus estimate for Friday’s jobs report seems to be that after accounting for the large decline in temporary census workers, the U.S. economy continued to add jobs in July. Most forecasters, however, have tempered their positive but modest outlook and are expecting to see a continuation of slow but steady recovery in the jobs market. While any growth in private sector jobs would be welcomed, we are much more bullish and expect to see a far stronger jobs report than people are anticipating....

By Todd Bavol, The Job Search Ninja. CEO, Integrity Career Transitions An interesting article in today’s Washington Post talks about pre-employment tests and how these are being used by increasing numbers of employers to delve into the personalities, thought processes, motivations, work styles, values and aptitudes of job candidates. Although these types of tests only used to be confined to certain types of work or industries, as the article quite rightly points out, nowadays even mechanics...
