Should I Learn Internet Marketing and Business Skills?
You don't have to be an aspiring entrepreneur or small business owner to benefit from learning about Internet marketing or business; however, if you are planning to make a career out of self-employment via the Internet, then learning as much as you possibly can is a good idea. The video below tells you how and where you can get started. |

Why HR Professionals Need to Care About the .jobs Controversy
A few years ago, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) helped to create a new domain extension to make it easier for employers to market their job opportunities to candidates. No longer would IBM need to direct candidates to its home page and then hope that they find the Careers or Jobs link somewhere on that page or, with some organizations, even on some interior page. Now IBM and every other employer could plunk down a small amount of coin, buy IBM.jobs or whatever domain is appropriate... |

Knowing where to go to get a quality online education is tough. Besides avoiding scams, there are other important issues that weigh on the minds of students, recent graduates and other candidates looking for a quality online program to help them learn the ins and outs of small business ownership. |

Reason 901 Why Opt-ins Are Necessary for Text Messaging Campaigns
Five years after Twentieth Century Fox delivered a targeted cell phone text messaging campaign to promote the release of its "Robots" movie on DVD, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois' Eastern Division has found that the SMS campaign violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act because the SMS messages were sent without the consumer's consent. As we've been telling our clients for years, consent is absolutely essential for SMS marketing. "The TCPA generally... |

Are Your Customers Dumb Or Are You Making Them Dumb?
According to the UK News Magazine, The A Register, MSI (a global hardware manufacturer) was so fed up with customers asking dumb questions that they told 97,000 of them that they (MSI's Tech Support Group) "Had installed an 'RTFM' chip on its hardware boards to determine whether users had read their manuals and that anyone who hadn't read them would be banned from support." In our opinion, the RTFM (acronym for Read The F###ing Manual) may be mirrored in many of the missives candidates receive.... |

Government Agencies Starting to Use Social Media for Recruiting
I'm really looking forward to making my third trip to Washington, D.C. in four months. The previous two were primarily to meet with clients and their recruitment advertising agencies but the one next week will be to attend the Social Media for Recruiting in Government and Defense conference being organized by Advanced Learning Institutes. The list of presenters reads like a who's who list of many of the top recruiting professionals in federal, state, and local government agencies as well as the... |

When Is An Unpaid Internship Illegal?
There's little dispute that the growth in unpaid internships has been dramatic over the past couple of years as more employers embrace the concept of internships as the best way to recruit future talent. Internships are essentially temp-to-perm relationships that allow both the employer and employee to learn more about each other in a low risk manner. If either side doesn't like the other, they can walk away without having to terminate the employment relationship as it is understood at the outset... |

TRU USA Recruiting Unconference Only Two Weeks Away
I'm looking forward to attending my first unconference organized by Bill Boorman and the other folks at TRU Events. I heard so many good things about the gathering earlier in 2010 in the United Kingdom and now the USA event is only a couple of weeks away and just a hop, skip, and a jump (well, actually about 4.5 hours drive) away in Madison, Wisconsin. What's an unconference? According to the TRU USA web site, An unconference is an event that has no fixed structure and only two rules, no power... |
