LinkUp Jobs Data From June And July Hinted At Decent August Jobs Report; LinkUp’s Jobs Data For August Paints Grim Picture For September and October Jobs Reports
Despite the slight uptick in unemployment to 9.6%, this morning’s August jobs report was far more positive than people had expected. While job losses in the U.S. economy numbered 54,000, the private sector added 67,000 jobs in August. Equally as positive, the Bureau of Labor Statistics provided a significant revision to July’s numbers, decreasing the number of job losses initially reported that month from 131,000 to only 54,000 and revising upward the number of private sector job gains...

Larry Kudlow Is Wrong – Businesses Do Want To Hire
With the disappointing jobs report released earlier today, there is no doubt that my prediction for a far more positive report than most expected was off the mark. According to the Department of Labor numbers, job growth in July was positive but anemic, and far below consensus estimates. Following the weak BLS report, politicians, economists, forecasters, and the media are and will continue to passionately debate about the current state of the nation’s economy, the health of the U.S. job...

Based On LinkUp’s Job Search Engine Data, Friday’s Jobs Report Will Be Far Stronger Than Consensus Estimates
The consensus estimate for Friday’s jobs report seems to be that after accounting for the large decline in temporary census workers, the U.S. economy continued to add jobs in July. Most forecasters, however, have tempered their positive but modest outlook and are expecting to see a continuation of slow but steady recovery in the jobs market. While any growth in private sector jobs would be welcomed, we are much more bullish and expect to see a far stronger jobs report than people are anticipating....

LinkUp June Jobs Report Provides Glimmer Of Hope For Tomorrow’s Jobs Report
Given the slew of grim data released this week, it’s no wonder that the markets have reacted poorly. ADP reported that employers added only 13,000 people to their payrolls in June, far lower than the 60,000 economists were expecting. Earlier today, the Department of Labor reported that Initial Claims for Unemployment in the week ending June 26th rose to 472,000, raising the 4-week average up to 466,000, its highest level since March. Combined, the two employment indicators sent shivers through...

Paid Search Pounding More Nails In Daily Newspaper Coffin
It’s been some time since I’ve written about the decline of the daily newspaper given that it’s about as compelling a story as the White Sox languishing in 3rd place in the A.L. Central and fading fast as the All-Star break approaches. But I cannot resist at least commenting on the latest news concerning the beleaguered industry, especially as it relates to recruitment advertising. Q1 advertising revenue for the dailies dropped nearly 10%, with a 14.4% decline in classified ad...

LinkUp Featured on CBS News
LinkUp received a nice mention on CBS News last week. LinkUp, one of the fastest growing job search engines on the web, indexes jobs that are only found on company websites. We do not aggregate jobs from other job boards and we do not allow anyone to post jobs directly to the site. As a result of this completely unique approach to job listings online, LinkUp has eliminated scams jobs, phishing jobs, work-at-home scams, ‘money mule’ listings, and other garbage listings that pollute...

May Jobs Report From LinkUp Shows That Economic Recovery Is Tepid At Best
Similar to the way they were prior to last month’s jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the optimists are out in full force this week, and perhaps for good reason. The ADP report was released today, showing that private employers added 55,000 jobs in May. The Monster Index, also released today, rose 14%, the strongest gain since April of 2007. Even President Obama hinted this week that the BLS numbers, to be released tomorrow, will show that the economic recovery in the...

Weak April Jobs Report From LinkUp Looks Prescient In Light Of New Jobless Claims Data
LinkUp’s April jobs report was way out of step from the consensus estimates, and contrasted sharply with data and forecasts released by The Conference Board, ADP, Intuit, and Wanted Technologies, among others. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) numbers for April released in early May were even more positive than anyone predicted, with non-farm payrolls growing by 290,000 jobs during the month. But data just released on the number of people filing new claims for unemployment benefits...

FBI Crack Down On Cyber Mules Getting No Help From Indeed, Simplyhired, Or Huffington Post
The Wall Street Journal ran an article this week highlighting the efforts of the FBI to crack down on ‘Cyber Mules,’ people who knowingly or unknowingly participate in money laundering schemes. Cyber mules, or money mules as they are sometimes called, are recruited through classified ads posted on job boards such as Monster.com and are asked to receive and then pass along funds deposited in their bank accounts. The job scam ads pollute most of the traditional pay-to-post job boards...
